Roles at the board...

Document Actions
proposals for setting up a board of FFII that is more capable of joint action, based on draft by Holger

> I don't know if I will have enough time for that. What exactly are the things you have to do as a board member?

That is a good question and thought over it a little.

There is little you have to do: (http://ffii.org/assoc/statut/).

You see that the role of vice presidents and assessors is quite undefined except that have full decision power. I personally also dont care who is president (see if we want some role switching) but regularly that would only be due next year.

Basically currently the board (Hartmut, James and me) is not at all professionally balanced (neither me nor Harmut are full-time into "computing") nor is it geographically balanced (me and Hartmut are in the same house). Moreover, I would like to see eg a board page like that eg:

Hartmut Pilch, president. Roles: think tank building, research, documentation, relations with advisors and academia

James Heald, general secretary. Roles: FFII UK. Monitoring of IP enforcement directive, ....

Holger Blasum, treasurer. Role: FFII accounting. Works with bbb and ccc.

aaa, vice-president, association development: oversees long-term development of organization (eg statutes, relations to related orgs such AEL, FSFE, EDRI, ...), maybe also assignment of tasks to active members

bbb, vice-president and corporation relations: keeps contacts with companies and their representatives, eg for after-work at trade fairs, inviting corps to conferences etc

ccc, assessor and supporter relations: questions of data integrity and privacy (petition.eurolinux.org), membership status, multilingual stuff also could go in here

ddd, assessor and head of computing: organization (of the programming group)

Btw, of course the statutes could be changed too. But I'd propose this year to get a working board first and then later ("aaa") care for the legal and formal stuff.
