The World Intellectual Property Organisation's Standing Committee on Patents will conduct a meeting to negotiate about the Substantive Patent Law Treaty. The aim of this treaty is to establish uniform and binding criteria under which patents must be granted. There is great pressure to from the US and elsewhere to mandate unlimited patentability. Many NGOs are present at the session, mostly representing interests of patentees and patent lawyers.
